"Mind would he snap at you"...
These are the wise words of my great, late grandmother Josephine, who would bark this at me, my brothers and our cousins, while playing in her garden with her great, late dog Brandy. 'Nanny' as we used to call her, would let this roar frequently during weekly visits to her house, in case our precious little persons would fall prey, to the wrath of his vicious Jack Russell teeth. This would happen while we all used to run after the foot-ball, all of us, at the same time. As much as we adored playing for hours on end during long summer days, the thoughts of Brandy snapping at us, would bring a little fear into our playtime.
The word snap was one of the first I learned used in a different way by my late Aunt Margaret, when rounding us all up with her camera to have our photograph taken. Needless to say, our cheesy grins were many the happy subject of our proud aunties photo collection throughout the years.
As a young child, the double meaning of this word confused me. Little did I know with growing up, the fear I had from this word would change from dogs to humans which often happened when I was the one behind the lens taking the snaps, and some folk did not like it very much.
Mind Would He Snap At You is primarily a photography blog, written by a blagarrd from the midlands, who likes taking snaps to capture the moments that should and some that probably shouldn't be.
It is a journey of learning about digital photography, a means for documenting the happenings of an eager but self conscious photographer, starting out with his new DSLR for the first time. Some personal interests or obsessions, be they artistic, political or musical will be thrown in alongside the fondest of memories.
A shaky start to those who can comprehend... (Anyone?)
